EPA and WaterISAC to Host Pandemic Influenza Planning Webinar

As we prepare for the 2010 flu season, WaterISAC will once again partner with colleagues across the water sector to host a pandemic influenza planning and preparedness webinar that will focus on lessons learned from last year’s outbreak.

This webinar, to be held Wednesday, September 29 at 1PM Eastern Time, is designed specifically for water and wastewater utility personnel who are faced with challenges posed by the threat of a pandemic.

You must subscribe to WaterISAC to be able to participate.  Fortunately, EPA is sponsoring no cost subscriptions for state drinking water program staff.  To sign up, just go to www.waterisac.org and click on the “subscribe now” button.  If you already subscribe, log in and follow the instructions under the “News and Events” section.

Participants will hear from an array of water sector partners including the San Jose Water Company, the California Department of Public Health (CA DPH), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and U.S. EPA. The following perspectives will be offered:  update on pandemic influenza from the healthcare perspective; state planning and preparedness efforts in partnership with utilities; and utility lessons learned from planning and preparing for pandemic influenza.
