Heads Up Emergency Alert System Testing on Wednesday

On Wednesday, November 9, DHS and FCC will test the Emergency Alert System (EAS) at 2:00 p.m. eastern time. The EAS is a critical communications tool that sends  alerts, warnings and other information rapidly across television and radio platforms. The test is an important exercise in ensuring that the system is effective in communicating critical information to the public in the event of a national emergency.  The three (3) minute test will run concurrently on all radio and TV band stations.

NPPD Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness (BCEP) has collected a number of useful fact sheets and other resources on all-hazards events on the BCEP’s All Hazards Planning page.
