DHS to Host A Commercial Facilities Risk Webinar

On April 4, the Department of Homeland Security is hosting a webinar titled “The Risk Self-Assessment Tool:  What’s In It for You?”  The target audience for this event are facilities such as convention centers, race tracks, stadiums, arenas, and the like.

Should you participate?  If you or your state’s water utilities believe that you need to know what type of threats these facilities face and what tools are available to help them reduce these risks, then yes!  State homeland security advisors, state fusion center staff, and Federal Protective Security Advisors should also participate in this hour long interactive webinar.

The Risk Self-Assessment Tool is a free, easy-to-use Web-based tool created by the Department, in partnership with the private sector, to deliver an all-hazards relative risk assessment for commercial facility owners and operators. When combined with a facility’s specific characteristics (such as usage, size, capacity), the threat analysis and consequence estimate generated by the tool helps owners and operators identify and prioritize where security measures, procedures, or staff training might be needed – thereby helping managers put their security resources to better use.  Panelists will present Federal and private sector perspectives on the development of the tool, how it works, and how their facilities have benefited from its use.
