November is Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month

The President has designated November as Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month.  The twofold focus is to elevate awareness and understanding of the importance of critical infrastructure to America’s national security and economic prosperity as well as to emphasize our shared commitment to safe and secure critical infrastructure and communities. As we acknowledge the role of critical infrastructure in our everyday lives, securing critical infrastructure against growing and evolving threats – both physical and cyber – requires a layered approach requiring effort and investment from both the Federal government and private sector.

The evolving nature of the threat – as well as the maturation of our work and partnership with the private sector – has necessitated a shift from a focus on asset protection to one on overarching system resilience from all threats and hazards. Your efforts in understanding and managing these risks are a key element of our national security, resilience, and economic prosperity.
